Pastor Timothy Winters says the new "Soul" will better serve the San Diego community
San Diego's Only 24-Hour Gospel Station To Change Call Letters, Frequency
(SCCN) - December 22, 2006 - "The Soul of San Diego" will change position on the dial starting in mid-January, going from KURS 1040 am to KSON 1240 am. The move will almost triple the station's output to 1,000 watts.
To help listeners adjust to the change, the station will be broadcasting on a split format during specific times for two weeks prior to the change.
Then on January 15, the station will air only on 1240 am. The change comes about as a strategic move by the newly hired General Manager Karla Fox.

I pray that God, who gives hope, will bless you with complete happiness and peace because of your faith. And may the power of the Holy Spirit fill you with hope. Romans 15:13
Come January 15, gospel music listeners will be able to hear "The Soul of San Diego" more clearly, but on a different address on the dial
"Our listeners will be able to hear us louder and clearer than ever in 2007," Fox says.
The station also plans to implement a new format in the evenings. It will be targeted towards the youth, specifically designed to address non-violence through music, ministry and open forum.
Pastor Timothy Winters of Bayview Baptist Church and KURS says all this will better serve the community.
“By the grace of God, we've managed to put our station into a qualitative and quantitative mode for our clients and our listeners.
"Now we can service our community properly. We just ask that the community continue to support us as we work through the first 2 weeks of the New Year with the split format.
During that time, Winters says the station management will be finishing up with previous contracts.
"After that, get ready for big things from KSON 1240 AM, the "New Soul of San Diego.'"
